Perhaps that is why the early church quoted this Gospel more than any other. Matthew would not have been anyone’s choice though to write a book in the Bible as he was a hated tax collector. Yet, in God’s redemptive plan, Matthew was the perfect person to start the New Testament. Jesus came to save sinners and it is one of the themes all through the book. Matthew focuses on the five sermons or discourses of Jesus— the heart of His teachings. In this book study, we will really look at the heart of Jesus’ teachings and how to be a believer who practices redemptive love to others.
